Bio: I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship for the project entitled ‘Isolation and Segregation Landscape. Archaeology of quarantine in the Indian Ocean World — ISLand’, which aims to bring colonial studies into dialogue with the medical history, through the lens of historical archaeology of isolated contexts. As a postdoctoral research fellow (2009-2020) at the Department of Humanities, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, I managed different archaeological projects, focused on landscape archaeology and the development of settlements, especially between Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Since 2012 I have been involved as a field archaeologist in the Mauritian Archaeology and Cultural Heritage project (MACH) of Stanford University, which deals with colonial archaeology. |
