Bio: Akhigbe, Allwell Oseahume is a graduate student at the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His Master’s thesis is centred on the challenges and prospects moving across West Africa without visas under the ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement poses for cross-border policing. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Benin, Nigeria. He is fascinated by African borders and the dynamics of interactions they engender including border security, migrations, as well as transnational organised crimes which have inspired his recent researches. He is a member of the Association for Borderlands Studies. Akhigbe Allwell presented a paper titled “The ECOWAS Protocol on Free Movement and the Implications for Border Security Management for Nigeria and Republic of Benin” in July 2018 at the Association for Borderlands Studies 2nd World Conference at Vienna and Budapest. He also presented his paper titled “Unmasking Language as a Determinant of Border Security for Nigeria and the Republic of Benin” at the 16th Border Regions in Transition (BRIT) 2018 conference at Ibadan and Cotonou from October 15th to 18th 2018. Akhigbe’s research interests include national security, irregular migration and conflict resolution.
