Bio: Sabina Aguilera was born in Mexico City in 1977. She is an independent researcher presently working on a Project that aims at directing a documentary film whose main themes are oral history, landscape, worldview, and ancient knowledge among the Rarámuri People living in Northern Mexico. Her main interests previous to this project have been textiles, iconography, oral history and worldview also among the Rarámuri. Aguilera graduated as an Ethnologist in 2005 from the National School of Anthropology and History in Mexico City, her BA thesis was awarded with an "honorable mention" from the Fray Bernardino de Sahagún National Award. From 2006-2008 she studied an MPhil in Amerindian Studies at Leiden University, The Netherlands; and later on, from 2009-2012 a Doc. Phil in Ethnology at the Latin American Institute from the Free University in Berlin, where she currently lives. She has published two books, and several articles in peer reviewed journals, magazines, and books. |
