Bio: In my work I'm trying to find ways to integrate my interests in the modern Jewish religious thought (primary area of expertise), method and theory in the study of religion (secondary area), and most recently - Jewish-Muslim relations and comparative studies of Judaism and Islam. In the past I specialized in philosophy of religion and mostly Anglophone intellectual history. From that period of my career came a monograph "William James: Pragmatism and Religion" (in Polish). Recently, I've completed a manuscript entitled "History, Metahistory, and Evil: Jewish Responses to the Holocaust" (Academic Studies Press, forthcoming in December 2020) where I present a comparative analysis of the war-time writings of Orthodox rabbis and North American post-Holocaust theologians to argue that the post-war crisis of theodicy in Jewish thought, usually linked to the Holocaust, should in fact be seen in the broader context of the secularization of history. |
