Bio: Mr. Francis M. CAO is a Ph.D. candidate in commercial law and legal sociology at Frankfurt Goethe University law faculty and works under the supervision of em. Prof. Gunther Teubner. He also contributes as a Ph.D. candidate and research associate in Shanghai Jiao Tong University Koguan Law School. Beyond a strong background in legal education, he is also trained as a legal sociologist and financial historian. He strives to narrate the comparative legal history in a globalized world so as to provide a new systematic understanding of commercial laws, which is founded on corporate finance through societal trust. His Ph.D. project in Frankfurt will provide a restatement of commercial laws based on the relationship between central bank and multinational enterprise. His recent work focuses on the collision of hybrid networks during legal transfer, namely, dual-track arrangement during the transplant of corporation laws. In China, he acts dual roles as theorist and practitioner in rule of law promotion. He is a prolific translator, shepherding several classics from English and German into Chinese, and also among the editing board of multiple peer-reviewed journals and book series. He has studied and taught commercial law and legal history in different top universities in China. He graduated from China University of Political Science & Law as Bachelor of Laws in 2012 and Peking University Law School as Master of Laws in 2014. |
