Bio: I am currently a lecturer and Assistant Director of Studies (non-America) in the History and Literature concentration at Harvard University. I teach in the Modern Europe and Post-colonial fields. Recent courses I’ve taught examined race and representation in Modern France, and youth protest in Europe in 1968. My research focuses on race in France, popular culture, and on the “black Atlantic” from a French perspective. I also work on the notion of cosmopolitanism in popular culture and on rugby and race relations in a post-colonial context. My current book project is entitled Begin the Biguine: How music made the black Atlantic French. I graduated from Northeastern University with a Phd in World History, and from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English and History. |
