Bio: Whitney Nell Stewart is Assistant Professor of Historical Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas. She received her PhD from Rice University in 2017. Her work has been generously supported by the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, the Smithsonian, the Huntington Library, and the American Antiquarian Society, among others. She has a forthcoming article in the Journal of Social History, as well as a co-edited anthology with University of Georgia Press entitled Race and Nation in the Age of Emancipations, which will be published in 2018. |
