Bio: BA (Hons.) 1992 and Ph.D (South Asian History) 1995 from the School of Oriental and African Studies (London University). 1995-2006 Research and teaching fellowships at the International Institute for Asian Studies, Leiden, The Netherlands, SOAS, and the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London. Publications include 'Tibet and the British Raj; the frontier cadre 1904-1947' [London, 1997] : Footprints Remain: biomedicine across the Indo-Tibetan frontier [Amsterdam, 2007]: and a 3 volume edited 'History of Tibet' [London 2003]. A new work 'Kailas Histories. renunciate traditions and the construction of Himalayan sacred geography' is currently with readers. |
