Bio: Anthony Dyer Hoefer is a native of Sumter, South Carolina, and a graduate of Wofford College. He earned an MA in American Studies from the University of Alabama and a PhD in English from LSU. After two years as a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech, he became the director of the University Scholars Program in the Honors College at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. In addition to his administrative duties, he teaches interdisciplinary honors seminars and an undergraduate research methods course. He is the author of Apocalypse South: Judgment, Cataclysm, and Deliverance in the Regional Imaginary, which is forthcoming from The Ohio State University Press. He has also published essays that examine literary representations of Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters in the U.S. South. His current project investigates the ways in which regional identities influence land use patterns, particularly in the sprawling suburbs of the U.S. South. |
