Bio: Elizabeth Bennett has been Librarian for History and History of Science at Princeton since 2003. She is responsible for selecting materials, overseeing collections, and managing budgets for history and history of science. She serves as liaison to faculty and students whose academic inquiry involves the fields of history and history of science. Prior to becoming Librarian for History, Bennett managed the startup of the Cultural Policy and the Arts National Data Archive. CPANDA is a project started at Princeton with funding from Pew Charitable Trusts, to archive data about the arts and culture in the United States. From 1998 through 2000, she managed the JSTOR Production Services Unit at Princeton. At JSTOR, she coordinated the digitization of the General Science Collection, which comprises 1,500,000 pages of back issues of several prestigious scientific journals, including Science, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and the journals of the Royal Society of London. Bennett earned an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Drexel University in 1998, and received a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from Yale in 1989, with a dissertation on the use of credit in the economy of 15th-century London. |
