Bio: Dr. R. Darrell Meadows is director of the Kentucky Historical Society’s division of research and interpretation, where he oversees the editorial staff and production of the state’s peer-reviewed history quarterly, the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society. He is also Director and coeditor of the major new digital documentary edition, Civil War Governors of Kentucky. Before joining KHS’s senior leadership team, Dr. Meadows was Project Historian for the Kentucky Historical Society’s nationally recognized suite of exhibitions developed for the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial. Meadows is a social historian whose work has focused on the French Atlantic world and Haitian Revolution, and more recently Abraham Lincoln and Kentucky in the antebellum and Civil War eras. In 2004, he earned his doctorate in Social and Cultural History from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). Before his arrival at KHS in 2007, he worked as a research analyst and consultant to the National Science Foundation’s Education Division, and was historian and liaison for the Library of Congress’ collaborative digital library project, France in America / France en Amérique, created in partnership with the National Library of France. |
