Bio: Rosalind De Sailly has worked nearly twenty years in the higher education and non-profit sectors, in positions involving strategic planning, special projects, quality assurance, service delivery and teaching. Spending seven years working in the field of educational technology, she worked consultatively with a range of education providers across the region and internationally. She now leads a boutique executive search agency specialising in academia and research-intensive sectors, called De Sailly Consulting. De Sailly Consulting has placed academic leaders and professionals at many of the region's most respected institutions, including The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, Victoria University, Swinburne University, Study Group and Blue Mountains International Hospitality Management School. To ensure the company continues to foster excellence in the search and selection process, current research investigates leadership capabilities for selecting Heads of Schools within Australian higher education. The aim is to help the sector place the best people into roles where they can realise their potential, improving the lives of students and the impact of our institutions. Dr De Sailly is a leading member of the "Anatomy of Civil Societies" project team. This is a multiyear project sponsored by the Australian Research Council (ARC) in conjunction with the University of Technology, Sydney and Melbourne Business School, which seeks to chart the social, economic and political preferences of society using a unique methodology that provides us with a more accurate and robust picture of how individuals, as citizens, make fundamental trade-offs about things of material interest to their society. Dr Rosalind De Sailly completed a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney, majoring in history, English and Australian Literature, and taking first class honours in English with a thesis on the fallen woman in Victorian literature. She went on to be awarded a PhD for a thesis entitled "George Eliot's Natural History of Common Life". The thesis was completed under the auspices of the English Department but could easily have fit into History and Philosophy of Science. She went on to complete an MBA (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management where she also served as an adjunct lecturer. |
