Monika Lehner <lehner@mail.h-net.msu.edu> University of Vienna My current research interest focuses on Sino-Western relations in general and especially on Western knowledge about and images of China from Early Modern Period onwards. This includes 'images' in the narrower sense of the word, especially late 19th/early 20th c. political cartoons as well as 'imaginations' and 'images' created as a reaction to the growing knowledge about China and changing relations to China. I blog about my explorations at http://mindthegaps.hypotheses.org (currently mostly in German). Part of my exploration of early Western knowledge about China is a bibliography listing Western books in China in libraries in Vienna/Austria and an accompanying weblog, "Bibliotheca Sinica 2.0" (http://www.univie.ac.at/Geschichte/China-Bibliographie/blog) |
