Bio: Chris J. Magoc is Professor and Chair of the Department of History at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he teaches courses in American, Environmental and Public History and directs the Mercyhurst Public History program. His publications include Environmental Issues in American History, So Glorious a Landscape: Nature and the Environment in American History and Culture, and Yellowstone: The Creation and Selling of an American Landscape, 1870-1903. He currently serves as General Editor of American Imperialism and Expansionism: A Cultural, Social and Political Encyclopedia (ABC-CLIO, 2014). Magoc is co-founder of the Mercyhurst Green Team and was the first recipient of the Mercyhurst Sustainability Award. Magoc also co-founded the Preservation Erie which works for the adaptive reuse of the built environment of northwest Pennsylvania. |
