Bio: Born 1939. Studentexamen (Abitur) at Högre Allmänna Läroverket in Lidköping 1960. Fil. Mag.(M.A.) 1967 at the university of Göteborg, Sweden. In the MA was included history, political science, national economy and pedagogics. Lärarhögskolan (The teachers high school) in Göteborg 1967. Corporate economy 27 points at Handelshögskolan in Göteborg 1974 and History of ideas and learning 20 points VG 1985 at the university of Göteborg. From 1968 teacher in history, political science and economics at the gymnasium (college) in Lidköping. From 1998 retired and working with private research and bookwriting. Danish Philosophiae Doctor at Odense university 1999 with a dissertation entitled ”The Well Spring of the Goths. The Goths - Religion, Organization, Structure. (Migration- and Middle Ages symposium with the theme: Early Nordic eastern contacts.) 1992 The transition from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages at the Svenska institutet in Istanbul, Turkey. 1995 The transition from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages at Göteborgs university, Sweden. 1995 A runic symposion at Runverket in Stockholm, Sweden 1995 Warfare from early Iron Age till c.1200 at Nationalmuséet in Copenhagen, Denmark. 2000 Liljestensseminariet in Lidköping. Treating early Middle Age religious stone art, so called Lilystones or Tree of Life Slabs, with definite Byzantian influence.Lecture: Liljestenarnas ikonografi, proveniens och spridning (The iconography, proveniens and spread of the ”Lilystones”)in Liljestenar, Skara 2001. 2000 The Conversion of Northern Europe, Symposion at the university of York, UK. 2002 "Saga and Societies" in Borgarnes, Iceland , 5-9 september, where I lectured about Kings and Cult-Sagas as a Means to Control Society, as well as to Learn about the Ways of Old Societies. The main organizers are the Reykjavik Akademia and Snorre Sturluson Center with support of the EU. 2006 Goternes sprog, historie og efterliv, Et tværfagligt symposium, Odense,Denmark. Lecture: Goterna och Skandinavien 2006 Kult, Guld och Makt- Ett tvärvetenskapligt symposium i Götene. Lectue: Cult and Cultsymbols as indication of secular power. 2006 Gotiskt symposium (Gothic symposium) i Uppsala I was myself director and organizer of the two international symposions in Lidköping and was also involved in arranging the Liljestensseminarium. I was editor of the above mentioned numbers of the magazine Götiska Minnen, documenting the symposions, and also editor of the book Liljestenar, Skara 2001 documenting the Tree of Life Slab seminar. In 2006 I organised and moderated the symposium Kult, Guld och Makt in Götene, Sweden. I was as well editor of the documentation book of Kult, Guld och Makt, Skara 2007 I am chairman , and also a member of the Scientific Council, of the organization ”Historieforum Västra Götaland” working to support historical and archaeological research in western Sweden. Presently I am working voluntarily as editor of small scientific books on history for our society. Till now I have edited , except of the books mentioned above, ”Slaget vid Herrevadsbro (The battle at Herrevadsbro)” and ”Vägen till Västerhavet (The way to the Western Ocean)” I am also editor of our new Historical Research Magazine called Historieforum-Tidskrift för historisk debatt. It is intended to come twice a year, if we can afford, with appr.100 pages in every number in S5-formate. Every article will also be summarized in English and/or German. This also is voluntary work since the society can not afford paying wages. |
