Bio: B.A, in English, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; MA in English Appalachian State University; and Ph.D. in American literature at UNC-Chapel Hill. Articles and reviews: I have published over 115 scholarly essays, reviews, articles in reference books, chapters in books, etc. I have published articles in such journals as AMERICAN LITERATURE, AMERICAN QUARTERLY, SOUTHERN LITERARY JOURNAL, SOUTHERN STUDIES, SOUTHERN QUARTERLY, MISSISSIPPI QUARTERLY, POE STUDIES, STUDIES IN AMERICAN HUMOR, STUDIES IN SHORT FICTION, SOUTH ATLANTIC REVIEW, NORTH CAROLINA LITERARY REVIEW. My books include: T. S. STRIBLING: PIONEER REALIST IN MODERN SOUTHERN LITERATURE (1988, U P of America); THE HUMOR OF THE OLD SOUTH (2001, U Press of Kentucky), co-edited with M. Thomas Inge; THE ENDURING LEGACY OF OLD SOUTHWEST HUMOR (2006, Louisiana State UP). I have delivered numerous conference papers at MLA. SAMLA, NEMLA. SSSL, Popular Culture Association of America, Popular Culture Association of the South I have taught courses in all periods of American literature and specialized courses in African American Literature, the Literature of the American South, American Humor, the American Novel, American Regionalism, Contemporary Southern Writing, Southern humor, Text Thoery, Research, and Scholarly Writing, and numerous others. |
