Charles A. D'Aniello <lclcharl@acsu.buffalo.edu> University at Buffalo, State University of New York I hope that my contributions as an editor will strengthen the list's mission to foster lively, informative, peered discussion and debate. I hope to present questions for discussion on topics ranging from instructional design and guide and Web page creation, to the design of reference resources and library programming, to encourage an interest in historical topics. Some comment on major reference publishing projects will also be encouraged. I plan to seek out expert and articulate individuals - whether they are engaged with history as historians or librarians or in both capacities -- to participate in discussion. As for the Web page, I hope to build and make available - and keep current -- a useful aggregation of Web resources to which bibliographers and historians will regularly turn for assistance. I plan to do this by using the talents of individuals in a variety of organizations, including historical groups and ALA as well as my own knowledge. Finally, it is my hope that participants on the list will not hesitate to ask one another for assistance with historically related work or history librarian work - since a primary audience for the list is professionals working in libraries. |

Bio: My field qualifications for this involvement include service as a history bibliographer for over twenty years, the teaching of history of the book and historical bibliography/bibliographic research courses as well as courses in the selection and management of library materials in the University at Buffalo's library school. Over many years, I have also been involved in the programs of the Association for the Bibliography of History. And I team-taught a methods/bibliography course in the University's history department earlier in my career. And earlier in my career, I edited and contributed to a book on bibliographic instruction in history and am now again an active researcher and practitioner in this field. Needless to say, I have spoken to and worked with many history classes. In addition to a library degree, I hold an M.A. in history from the University of Virginia. Finally, I have been involved in many exhibits and a lot of public programming. |
