Kamau LucyJayne <kamau@dellnet.com> Northeastern Illinois University I am completing "Hoopole and Harmony: A Social History of Posey County, Indiana, 1800-1850." Posey County was the site of two communal societies, the German Harmony Society and Robert Owen's utopian community, both located in New Hartmony. The book discusses the early history of the county, including the relationship between communitarians and their descendents with other residents of the county. Relations between intentional communities and their neighbors is one of my prime interests, particularly with respect to the nineteenth century. |
