Paul-Marie T. Arpaia <arpaia@mail.h-net.msu.edu> My research is on nineteenth- and twentieth-century cultural and political history with a focus on Italy and the Mediterranean. I am interested in the role of culture and tradition in the crisis of European liberalism, provoked by universal suffrage, increasing industrialization and the bureaucratization of the state. I am currently writing a biography on Luigi Federzoni, a prominent cultural and political figure in pre-Fascist and Fascist Italy. |
